How Hot Is It?

Last week we set a new record temperature in Atlanta - 106 degrees.  And this was only June.  In the face of global warming, here's a list of some fun things you can do to keep cool.

  1. Get in your car and drive the the Stop'n'Go.  Buy yourself a large cherry slushie.  Drive home.
  2. Get in your car and drive to the Kroger.  Buy a gallon of Butter Pecan ice cream.  Drive home.
  3. Drive to the swimming pool.  Drive home.
  4. Drive to Ft Walton Beach.  For dinner, drive to a nice restaurant.  Drive home.
  5. Turn on the air conditioner.
  6. Roll down all the windows in your car and stick your arm out one side.  Put the dog in the backseat.  Drive around really fast.
  7. Drive to the Kroger and buy ten bags of ice.  Fill the bathtub with them.  Look at it, but don't get in.  What are you, crazy?  You know what that would feel like.
  8. Turn the air conditioner on high.
  9. Instead of sitting around in the house, treat yourself and drive somewhere to see a movie.  Enjoy their air conditioning for a while.
  10. Go for a drive.
  11. When's the last time you sat down with a good book?  Drive somewhere and read one.

  1. It's strange how country folk have so many colorful, creative descriptions for a hard rain: gully washer, frog strangler, raining cats and dogs and I just stepped in a poodle...that kind of stuff. Yet they (we?) don't have near as many sayings about hot weather. Maybe a reference to chickens laying hard-boiled eggs, but that's about all I can think of. I guess hot weather is just so oppressive that all you want to do is sit right in front of the air conditioner and shift your brain into neutral.
